One of our longtime readers recently contacted us with the following image. Her daughter was taking self-portraits with her camera when much to her surprise she saw the family dog lying down asleep behind her. If you look behind her shoulder on the left you'll see what she saw.

Normally this would be no cause for alarm as this was her pet's usual habit to sleep in her bedroom, but her dog (this dog) had passed away quite some time ago. The young woman was so startled she ran to go get her Mom who was in another room to show her the image. The mother while an admitted believer in ghosts and hauntings still went to check the room to see what was in the spot where the "dog" is pictured. Her thinking at the time is it must be a pile of laundry or a gym bag or something else that is playing a trick on the eyes and mind, and being mistaken for a dog. To her shock nothing was in that spot, it was empty, and yet something was definitely captured within the image.

Is this a photo of an apparition of a dog? We don't know, but it is compelling. Upon questioning both mother and daughter insist the area was free of items that might have created the appearance of a dog. They currently have a small dog, and a cat. The dog was with the mother on the couch when the daughter excitedly ran into the room, the cat is small and black and white in colouring.We do not believe that this photo has been photo-shopped to add the dog.

In a case like this it comes down to the credibility of the witnesses. Either they have lied to us or not. We have no reason to doubt these women and so we have decided to share their photo with you. People have reported apparitions of beloved pets and other animals for pretty much as long as human ghosts have been reported. Often people report they feel comforted by what they say are ghostly visitations from their animal companions.
