Is Baptiste Lake a special place for haunts? It sure does seem that way with our own journeys and discoveries at Baptiste Lake Inn (former Grant's Inn and now closed to the public aside from the general store,) we have another tale from John Robert Colombo about a haunted cabin that he refers to as the "Melody-haunted Cabin"

The abandoned cabin on the shores of the lake is said to be haunted with musical sounds that were described as "sometimes swelling into a moderate volume, and on other occasions fading away to a delicate pianissimo." Prospectors seeking shelter in the cabin were, needless to say, unsettled.

According to the legend, a Native chief passed on in the cabin and a violin with a broken bow was found in the cabin.

The area is rich with minerals, maybe it's also rich with ghosts? See also our BRIEF story on the "ghostly" prostitute...

Do you have another story to share from this seemingly very haunted spot? Perhaps your own (or one you've heard,) story from a cabin or inn in this mineral capital?
