A reader writes:
"My family moved into a rental house around the corner from my childhood home. A friend of my teenage children lived in the house prior to us and told my children that the place was haunted and the previous owner of the house passed away in the kitchen and was there for 5 days before she was found. I took it with a grain of salt because of where is was coming from and to be honest it didn't bother me if it was as I have lived with spirits in my past residences.
Once we moved in and settled down, things started to happen, several occasions our light in the dining room sways from side to side nearly touching the celing as it does. This only happens in the late evening, once a saw a reflection of a woman on the glass door of our tv unit.
Myself and my son have both seen the shadow of someone in our laundry room, then the lights go out! On 2 occasions my husband and I have heard the sound of water dripping and always to the same beat, 3 taps a pause and then 2 taps, repeat.
The strangest thing happen was I was dusty our tv unit and open the cabinet glass door, inside there is ashes from both my father and my husbands. My fathers ashes came in a case that the lids does not hold open on its own, the lid is attached with a hinge and satin ribbon on the sides. When I opened the cabinet the lid was open and stayed in that position. This happened the day after I saw the reflection of the woman on the glass.
On several occasion when I have gotten up to get a drink in the middle of the night, I have heard the voice of a man and a woman in the dinning room.
In the summer my daughter was away at my sisters cottage. The whole week she was gone, every night when my husband and I would go to bed we could here someone walking back and forth where the head of her bed is. My bedroom was directly below hers and our beds directly under each other. We did talk to our neighbours whose house has been in the family for three generations. They did tell me that a woman did die in the house and that from the stories about this woman that they told me it sounded like she had dementia. I haven't heard the cause of her death, but I also know that where our rental house is built used to be farm land."
