We received the following report in June 2011:
"In January 2009 I moved into my first apartment; a small 750 square foot 1 bedroom apartment on Avenue Road, near Lawrence. My first impression when walking in for the first time was a feeling of panic and dread. I immediately convinced myself this feeling was just a fear of moving, but over the next 2 years I would come to know that feeling very well. I was always skeptical of "ghost stories" but this apartment felt like it was alive..or at least used to be. For the first month of living there I felt constantly uneasy, but I simply couldn't figure out why. I would wake up smelling burnt hair/fingernail smell but within seconds of waking up the smell was gone. Then the dreams started. I had these reoccurring dreams of being trapped in a fire. And on the nights i didn't have the dream, I would be woken up by what I can only describe as a presence. Every time I lay in bed and looked towards the exit to the building hallway, I felt like I was being watched. I moved out to a nicer place in March 2011 and since then I haven't experienced a thing. No dreams, no feeling of dread or panic, no smell of burning hair...I hope I never set foot in that building again
I researched the building, and nothing... Looked to see if there ever was a fire (because that is what my senses lead me to believe happened) nothing...I even asked the landlord about the history of the property, all they knew was that the building was from the early 1960s.
