In September 2010 one of our readers shares the following experiences, both of which occurred in Scarborough, but in two different residences:
"My first encounter was with a young man's ghost in my parents house in Scarborough on Bellamy Rd. South. I was about 19 yrs. old and standing at the kitchen table making breakfast before I went to work, when I heard footsteps coming out of the living room and looked up to see a young man standing there. He was around 4 ft. tall and had long hair to his shoulders and farmer-type suspender pants and shirt on. He looked like someone from another century. I think I just stood and stared for several seconds (probably with my mouth hanging open) until he just "fizzled" out. I had heard footsteps in the house many times, knowing that everyone was asleep and were not walking around. I didn't feel scared, but knew that it must be one or perhaps more than one ghost living there with us. They never bothered us.
My second encounter was, seeing my father a few days after he died. I was living in an apartment (which he had never been to) and got up in the middle of the night for a trip to the bathroom. While sitting there, I could see out into the living room, and that there was a man standing just inside the balcony door wearing a light yellow shirt and brown pants (there was enough light coming in from outside to determine this). It looked like my father, and I had seen him in those clothes before. I just stared at him, then looked away to make sure I wasn't seeing things, then looked back and he was still there. I knew all the doors were locked, so there was no way anyone could have come in without making a noise. We had a closed casket and then cremation, but my eldest sister sent the clothes for him to be buried in. I asked her what he was wearing, and she replied "the yellow shirt with brown pants". Well, that said it all. I was positive my dad had visited me, most likely because I was not with him at the time of his death, so he just dropped by to say farewell."
