The following report was sent into us in October 2010, but the event described actually occurred years earlier. The witness no longer lives in this home.
"My husband and I first started out by renting a house at Galloway and Lawrence. When we first went into the house I got a weird feeling about the place but ignored it as we were finally out on our own.
From the beginning we were hearing noises coming from the upstairs if we were in the family room and from the main floor if we were in the basement it almost sounded like some on walking with steel toed boots on.
The worst place in the house were the stairs leading to the bedrooms and bathroom. This is a very old house so the staircase is very narrow and there was no lighting in the stairway. Going up we were fine no fear at all but when coming down it was almost like someone was right behind you waiting to give a push so needless to say everyone who stayed at the house always ran down those stairs.
We also had a cat who would sit on the landing of the stairs which had rails going around it that only came to below your waist. Like I said it is a really old house...well we would hear our cat start to hiss at something we either didn't hear or see so we would go sit down then we would hear what sounded like something hitting the wall and our cat would hit the ground in front of the stairs on his side. After a while the drywall stared to fall off of the wall in the places we could only assume the cat had been thrown up against.
My husband's brothers always stayed at our house they were only about 13 and 15 at this time. One night we were all watching a movie and when we talked about what had happened we all remember hearing something before we looked to see what it was. A large center piece had slid from the middle of the coffee table to the end of it and was ready to fall. A couple of nights later the four of us were watching t.v again and had just had a pizza when the remote for the t.v. stated shaking from side to side on top of the pizza box.
A few times while in the family room watching the t.v. one of us would turn around to look at the entrance way that connected the familyroom/livingroom and kitchen, which was also the bottom of the staircase and we would see what looked to be like someone peeking around the corner at us.
I hated doing laundry as every time I would round the basement stairs it seemed as though someone had just ran round the corner. I was in the basement doing laundry one day when I heard what sounded like someone walking around with steel toed boots on...the boys had just left for school and I knew I was alone so I ran upstairs and without turning any of the lights out and called my husband.
Other things that happened in the house were the thermostat turning itself all the way up through the night and the plugs being pulled out of the wall when my husband would be charging his van. At one time we had a pool table in the living room of the house, We went to bed one night and were awoken by what sounded like someone playing pool. We ran down the stairs and the balls were racked but missing the 8 ball. We looked in all the pockets and on the ground and could not find it anywhere. The next night we heard the same thing came down and the 8 ball was back."
