Bancroft, Ontario is the "Mineral Capital of Canada" if not indeed the World. Tours through the now disused mines and an incredible scenic surrounding make a visit (even of a non-ghostly kind,) well worth the effort.

Since the eighteen-hundreds, men have come to mine and log near this beautiful area and with the men came... well... comfort?
One home outside Bancroft has one of the more unusual ghost stories we've come across... It seems, the home was once used as a bordello for the miners and loggers and kept many men "happy" while out in the seclusion of what is now cottage country.
The home's resident "spirit" is not an unhappy one but that of a former madame or possibly someone who worked for a former madame. We haven't as yet been able to nail down all the details and, from what we've heard, dating the apparition by dress may be a problem... You see, the apparition is a woman seen from the outside and is standing inside the second-story window quite naked beckoning people (we assume, beckoning the now long-gone men of the mines and forests,) to come on in!
We are really hoping to get more details if we can about this very unique ghost so we hope to be updating this story shortly. Please, don't e-mail us the rather obvious jokes you can make with this story! (grin)
