We received the following report in November 2009

"During the summer a paint ball game was organized for Canadian military members like myself outside of Picton Ontario, The games took place in a series of 3 buildings all connected, which was at one time was an old mental institution. It was leased to us for the paint ball game. The moment we stepped into the main building we felt a sense of being watched, and just a bad feeling of the building. You would never want to be alone in there. One area in particular was the infirmary, which had the names of the deceased on the walls, over 200 names. In this area we had a truly unique experience myself and a few others were in a kind of fight with the opposing team and we had cleared all the opponents in the area, I was looking through a window down the hall when I saw a shadow in the other side of the glass on a door down the hall. Thinking it was a fellow player we all aimed and waited. The door opened and closed right before us and nothing was seen. At night this place is truly scary, but very very active from what Ive heard, and seen."

Our thanks to the witness for writing in, and sharing this with us. According to its wiki entry "Prince Edward Heights or the "Heights" as it was known locally, at its peak was home to approximately 450 mentally handicapped individuals, and employed just as many staff, until deinstitutionalization became the norm and it was forced to close in September 1999." After being essentially abandoned, it served a brief life as the setting for a paint-ball business and has now been purchased for redevelopment into private homes. This location is privately owned, and you would need to obtain permission from the current owner to visit it.

Shortly after this story went online we received the following. It is from a former employee of "The Heights"

"My experience was in one of the houses, that backed onto Macauley woods and hill. I can not remember the address, only that it was a single house with nothing but field and woods behind it. Whenever I was in there at night, whether afternoon shift or midnight shift, I always closed the blinds, locked the back door and always had the feeling someone was standing right behind me. Most staff sat in that house on midnight shifts, with the lights all on, I think because it was so uncomfortable to go into after dark. I remember one staff get together where several of us started talking about this eerie house and found that almost everyone in the room had had similar experiences, right down to closing the blinds and locking the back door, and feeling like someone was right behind you. Interesting, I think. We never found out any stories about why. No one ever told me stories about the main facility, although I did work there for a time."

Our thanks go out to the former employee of this facility for sharing their thoughts, and experiences with us.
