"When I was 13 (2003) I was camping in Darlington Park we'd just been swimming on the way back we stopped at the park showers and me and my middle brother finished first leaving behind our father and youngest brother. When we returned to the site we were examing pop tabs for a contest we were going to enter when I dropped one when I looked up I saw a small girl in old fashioned clothes looking at me standing in front of our tent. For some reason my mind somehow jumped to the conclusion it was my little brother and I shouted to get in the tent and change because he had not had any clothes to change into when he'd been at the showers. The little girl went into the tent and then from behind the tent immediately walked my youngest brother and Dad. I jumped into the tent where the little girl had been and there was no trace of her.
I didn't do any serious research into the event, but I did discover that there is a pioneer graveyard in the park dating back to the areas first settlers. I have also heard stories that a cottage burned down and there might have been young fatalities. I also came across a few similar stories of people seeing a mysterious girl entering tent and disappearing."
As an addition to this report one of our forum members adds:
"...I'm not far from Darlington and bike ride the trails in there every now and then...The pioneer burial plot in there that the person mentioned in their story , is for the Burk family...The road beside the park (Colonel Sam drive) use to be known as "Old Ghost road"...I'm not sure if that was a real name or just what locals called it , but there is a forested part of the marsh conservation area along the road that is still called "Ghost Road bush/woods" on various trail maps...I've read a few things about people having some kind of experience in this area but they didn't go into detail as to what happened...A couple local groups here have investigated the wooded area and in the park a few years back...."
