"Back around 1986 I lived at the above mentioned building in an apartment on the 3rd floor.  When I moved in there, I had been 'jokingly' told by the superintendent that a woman had committed suicide in that apartment many years previous.   I figured the super being a Newfie who loved a good ghost story was just trying to yank my chain.  I moved in anyway.

Nothing of note happened in the first few months, but one night around 3:00 am, I was up working on a book I was writing when I suddenly smelled a brand of perfume I knew I never used. My apartment was close to the elevator which was old and generally made a helluva racket when it was traveling between floors.  So I couldn't help but hear if someone was coming up to the floor.

The beast was silent, and looking through the peephole in the door, I saw that there was no one in the hall, which might have been a logical explanation for the fragrance.

I can't really say that I felt a presence as I wasn't as sensitive to these things then, so jokingly I cockily said "Susan (that's what I named her) take a bloody hike already, you're wanted here."  The smell disappeared and I can't say that I ever smelled it again in the apartment.

On a postscript, prior to my moving in there, I had learned that nobody ever stayed in that apartment longer than the time it took them to use up their first and last month's rent.  I stayed for three years.

So was the place haunted? Possibly.  Is it still?  I'm not sure.

Being a lifelong Etobicoke resident, I thought I'd share this experience you all."
